Teaching Teenagers: A Journey into English Language Education
Good evening! Today I´m here to tell you about a new subject; English Language Teaching (Teenagers).
Some of you may know that I´m studying Early Childhood and Primary Education, so you may be wondering why I´m teaching classes focusing on education for teenagers. Well, I was wondering the same thing at the beginning, but it turns out that in these classes everything we teach is adapted.
It is really interesting and different from what I´m used to doing in Spain.
I go to class with students who are going to be teachers of teenagers, and that makes me learn a lot about other ages. It´s enriching as well as atractive.
Today I want to tell you about the first sessions we had with our lovely teacher, Gwen Raes. I have learnt quite a lot and, best of all, in many different ways. We have done interactive exercises, thinking activities, describing tasks...
My favourite was one we did in groups of three where we had to look for written sentences around the class and the corridor to find the mistakes and correct them together.
It makes me think how with such basic exercises you can learn in a different way.
Also, I want to tell you about the end of the year activity. We have to create a microteaching for the students. For this, in today´s class, Gwen has given us a lot of advices.
We talked about it in class, brainstormed ideas to make it easier and then we got into small groups to create a little work for future pupils.
At the moment I think I´m going to do it on the body and its parts, but I will try to keep you informed about the topic I choose and how my microteaching is going.
Before I forget, I´ll let you know how the trip to Poperinge tomorrow goes! I am very excited and looking forward to it.
And that is all for today, here are some photos of the classes and of our express project today.
Enjoyed them!
